Festive Fruit Bars

Instructions
- Melt margarine in a saucepan.
- Remove from heat.
- Add sugars and water; blend.
- Stir in flour and baking powder.
- Add egg and vanilla.
- Beat well.
- Add nuts and candied fruit.
- Stir lightly to combine.
- Pour into a 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan (rubbed with margarine). Bake in a moderate oven at 350° about 30 minutes.
- Do not overbake. Yields 18 bars (1 1/2 x 3-inches).
