Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • dash of salt
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 3 apples

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar together.
  2. Add the eggs to the mixture and beat well.
  3. Resift the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the batter alternately with sour cream, mixing until smooth and velvety.
  5. Pour the batter into a well-greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
  6. Insert the peeled and cored apples, rounded edge up, into the batter.
  7. Sprinkle the top with sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30 to 35 minutes, until golden and cooked through.
