Four O'Clock Tea Scones

Instructions
- Sift dry ingredients together.
- Cut in shortening.
- Add milk to egg and then add to flour mixture, gradually adding more milk if necessary.
- Knead lightly on a floured board.
- Roll to 1/2-inch thickness.
- Cut into wedges and place on greased baking sheet. Brush with butter and sugar on top.
- Bake in hot oven at 400° for 15 minutes.
- Makes 15 (4-inch) scones.
