Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tablespoons flour
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Blend flour and milk together in a saucepan.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens into a paste. Cool to lukewarm.
  3. Cream together the softened margarine, granulated sugar, and salt until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Gradually add some of the cooled paste to the creamed mixture and beat until smooth.
  5. Add the remaining paste and beat until the frosting is smooth and fluffy.
  6. Stir in vanilla extract.
  7. Use immediately or store in the refrigerator until ready to use. The frosting should be unbelievably smooth and airy.
