  • salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 piece fatback (2-inch square)

Instructions

  2. Bring to a boil and cook for 30 minutes.
  3. Add the butter beans, salt to taste, and sugar to the pot.
  4. Cook until the beans are tender, but do not overcook.
