Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups persimmon pulp
  • 2 cups chopped nuts
  • 2 cups chopped dates

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour and measure again, then sift with sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Stir in the bread crumbs.
  3. Mix the melted butter, milk, vanilla, persimmon pulp, chopped nuts, and chopped dates in a separate bowl.
  4. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until just blended.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
