  • 1/2 tsp. dry parsley flakes
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 (20 oz.) pkg. frozen mixed vegetables

  1. Measure hot water into a stew pot.
  2. Add salt, pepper, ginger, parsley flakes, butter, and turkey necks.

  6. Add flour-broth solution to the stew to thicken slightly.

Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider adding a splash of white wine or a tablespoon of soy sauce to the broth. If turkey necks are unavailable, chicken necks or wings can be used as substitutes. Fresh herbs such as thyme or rosemary can enhance the dish further. Adjust the spice levels by increasing or decreasing the amount of pepper and ginger according to your taste.

Serving Suggestions

This fricassee pairs well with crusty bread or over a bed of rice to soak up the delicious broth. A side salad, such as a refreshing Frozen Pear Salad, can complement the dish nicely. For a heartier meal, serve it alongside mashed potatoes or a creamy polenta to enhance the comfort food experience.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. To reheat, warm the fricassee on the stove over low heat, stirring occasionally, until heated through. If the stew thickens too much in the fridge, add a little water or broth while reheating to restore its consistency.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use fresh vegetables instead of frozen?

Yes, fresh vegetables can be used in place of frozen. Just ensure they are chopped into small, uniform pieces and added to the pot with the turkey necks to allow enough time to cook until tender. Adjust the cooking time based on the vegetables you choose for best results.

Is this recipe suitable for meal prep?

Absolutely! This fricassee is perfect for meal prep. It stores well and flavors often improve after a day in the fridge. Divide it into individual portions and freeze for up to three months. Just reheat on low when you're ready to enjoy it again.

What can I do if the stew is too thin?

If your fricassee is too thin, create a slurry by mixing a tablespoon of flour or cornstarch with a little cool water. Stir this mixture into the simmering stew and let it cook for a few minutes until it thickens. This will help achieve the desired consistency.
