Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon
  • 3 cups fresh corn, cut from cob
  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Fry bacon until crisp; drain, crumble and set aside.
  2. Drain all but 2 tablespoons of drippings from the skillet.
  3. Add corn, water, sugar, and pepper to the skillet. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  4. Cover and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  5. Combine cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of cold water, stirring until smooth.
  6. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the corn and boil for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  7. Top with crumbled bacon before serving.
