Ingredients

  • 1/4 lb. venison steak per person
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • flour
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Lay the venison steak on a cutting board and make cuts every 1/4-inch on each side, both sideways and lengthways.
  2. Repeat on both sides of the steak, but only cut about 1/3-inch into the meat.
  3. Heat a skillet to medium-hot and melt 1/2 stick of butter for greasing; do not let the butter burn.
  4. Place each steak on the back of your hand to spread open the cuts.
  5. Sprinkle flour, salt, and pepper over each side of the steak.
  6. Fry the steaks until browned on each side.
  7. Remove the steaks from the skillet and serve immediately.
  8. Pour 1/4 cup of water into the skillet, stir with the contents to make gravy, and serve over rice or potatoes.
