Ingredients

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp liquid smoke
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 lb lean meat, thinly sliced 3/16 to 1/4-inch thick

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine salt, garlic powder, liquid smoke, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  2. Stir well to mix the marinade.
  3. Place the thinly sliced meat in a container, layering 3 or 4 slices deep.
  4. Spoon the marinade over each layer of meat, ensuring even coating.
  5. Cover the container tightly and marinate in the refrigerator for 6 to 12 hours, stirring occasionally.
  6. Lay the marinated meat on greased racks in a single layer.
  7. Place in a preheated oven at 160°F (71°C) and bake for 4 to 5 hours.
  8. Reduce oven temperature to 130°F (54°C) and continue baking until dry, about 1-2 hours more.
