Fruit Flan

A creamy fruit-flavored custard baked in nut-lined ramekins, topped with fresh seasonal fruits, perfect for elegant desserts or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup grated nuts
  • choice of fresh fruit

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract.
  3. In a small saucepan, heat milk until it just begins to simmer, then pour into the egg mixture and stir well.
  4. Sprinkle the bottoms of 8 small ramekins evenly with grated nuts.
  5. Pour the egg and milk mixture into the ramekins.
  6. Place the ramekins in a baking pan and add hot water to reach about 1 inch high in the pan.
  7. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool slightly.
  9. Unmold the flans onto glass dessert dishes.
  10. Top with fresh fruit such as grapes, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, sliced passion fruit, or blackberries.
