Fruit Soup (Vin Suppe) is a sweet, comforting dessert featuring tender fruit and tapioca in a fragrant grape juice base, perfect for a light, fruity treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pearl tapioca
  • 12 prunes, pitted and seeded
  • 1½ cups raisins
  • 1 lemon, sliced thin and seeded
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 cups grape juice
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Soak tapioca in water for 3 hours.
  2. Drain and discard the water.
  3. Soak prunes and raisins in water for 1 hour.
  4. Drain and discard the water.
  5. Cook the fruit in water to cover for 15 minutes.
  6. Add drained tapioca, lemon slices, cinnamon stick, and 2 cups grape juice.
  7. Cook until the fruit and tapioca are tender, adding more water or grape juice as necessary.
  8. Add salt and sugar to taste.
