Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1 (17 1/2 oz.) pkg. chocolate cake mix
  • 1 1/3 cup hot water
  • 1 pkg. chocolate frosting mix (12 1/2 oz.)
  • 2 1/2 cups boiling water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Melt margarine in a 13 x 9-inch pan in the oven.
  3. Add dry chocolate cake mix and 1 1/3 cups hot water to the pan.
  4. Stir with a fork until smooth.
  5. Spread the batter evenly in the pan.
  6. Sprinkle the dry chocolate frosting mix over the batter.
  7. Gently pour 2 1/2 cups boiling water over the frosting mix.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 30 to 35 minutes until the crust is shiny and the cake starts to pull away from the sides of the pan.
  9. Serve warm, saucy side up, with whipped topping or ice cream.
