Ingredients

  • 1 stick plus 1 Tbsp. margarine
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 (13 oz.) can evaporated milk
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Melt together margarine and cocoa over low heat.
  2. Add sugar gradually, 1/2 cup at a time, stirring well after each addition.
  3. Add evaporated milk on low heat.
  4. Slowly bring the mixture to a boil.
  5. Boil for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring often.
  6. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
  7. Let it cool slightly before using; makes about 1 quart.
  8. Can be eaten hot or cold.
