Ingredients

  • 3 or more California avocados, mashed
  • 2 large tomatoes, deseeded, peeled, dejuiced, and chopped
  • 1 1/2 small white onions, minced
  • 1 tsp. fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • 2 frozen, peeled, and deseeded jalapeno peppers, finely chopped
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • salt to taste
  • garlic powder to taste

Instructions

  1. Put the mashed avocados, chopped tomatoes, minced onions, chopped cilantro, and finely chopped jalapenos into a bowl.
  2. Add the juice of one lemon to the mixture for flavor, consistency, and to prevent browning.
  3. Add salt and garlic powder to taste.
  4. Combine all ingredients in the bowl and beat with a fork until well mixed.

Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier texture, try using ripe avocados and mashing them with a fork, rather than blending. If you prefer less heat, adjust the amount of jalapenos or substitute with mild green peppers. Fresh lime juice can also be used in place of lemon for a different flavor profile. To enhance the taste, consider adding a pinch of cumin or diced garlic.

Serving Suggestions

Serve George's Guacamole as a dip with tortilla chips or fresh veggies. It pairs beautifully with Mccoy'S Very Famous Salsa and can be used as a topping for tacos, burritos, or nachos. For a complete meal, consider serving it alongside dishes like Hot And Spicy Rice or Mexican Okra for a vibrant, flavorful feast.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftover guacamole in an airtight container in the refrigerator. To prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before sealing. It’s best enjoyed fresh, but can be kept for up to two days. If browning occurs, simply stir and adjust the seasoning before serving.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make this guacamole ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the guacamole a few hours in advance, but it’s best to store it properly to minimize browning. Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface before sealing in an airtight container. However, for the freshest taste, consider making it closer to serving time.

What can I substitute for avocados if I want a different flavor?

If you're looking for a non-avocado alternative, consider using mashed cooked sweet potatoes or chickpeas for a different taste and texture. However, the classic guacamole flavor will be lost, so adjust seasonings to enhance the new base. Explore vegan recipes that offer creative twists on traditional guacamole.

How can I adjust the spiciness of my guacamole?

To control spiciness, reduce the amount of jalapenos or opt for milder peppers like Anaheim or poblano. Alternatively, adding more avocado can help balance the heat. Taste as you go and adjust with lime juice, which can enhance flavor without adding spice.
