Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 3/4 c. shortening or oil
  • 1/4 c. molasses
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Stir together dry ingredients.
  2. Add brown sugar, shortening, molasses and egg.
  3. Form into balls and roll in sugar.
  4. Bake on an ungreased cookie sheet at 375° for about 10 minutes.
