Ingredients

  • 6 c. water
  • 4 tsp. sugar
  • 1 (1-inch) piece fresh ginger, thinly sliced
  • 8 lemon peel strips (2 1/2 x 1-inch each)

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine water, sugar, sliced ginger, and lemon peel strips.
  2. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.
  3. Remove ginger and lemon peel strips with a slotted spoon and discard.
  4. Place tea bags in a teapot.
  5. Immediately add the simmering water mixture over the tea bags.
  6. Cover and let stand for 3 to 5 minutes.
  7. Remove tea bags and discard.
  8. Serve immediately in mugs, garnished with lemon slices if desired.
