- Stir ginger preserves and marmalade together until soft.
- Split the cake into 2 layers.
- Spread half of the ginger and marmalade mixture over the bottom layer of the split cake.
- Beat heavy cream with confectioners sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Spread half of the whipped cream over the ginger and marmalade layer and sprinkle with chopped pecans or walnuts.
- Place the top layer of the cake on top and repeat the layering with ginger mixture, whipped cream, and nuts.
