Ingredients

  • 3 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups light Karo syrup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon flavoring or coloring

Instructions

  1. Combine sugar, water, and Karo syrup in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Increase heat to high and insert a candy thermometer. Bring to a boil without stirring until the temperature reaches 310°F.
  3. Remove from heat and do not stir.
  4. Watch closely to prevent boiling over.
  5. Once the desired temperature is reached, remove from heat and add flavoring and coloring.
  6. Pour the mixture into a shallow flat pan.
  7. Allow to cool completely, preferably overnight.
  8. Break into bite-sized pieces and toss with powdered sugar.
