Golumpki are savory Polish cabbage rolls filled with seasoned ground meat and rice, baked in tomato juice. Perfect for hearty family dinners or traditional comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage
  • tomato juice (optional)
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • ground meat
  • salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cabbage by coring it, then pour boiling water into it to soften.
  2. Carefully remove leaves, using the tough outside and any broken pieces to line the pot.
  3. Fill each cabbage leaf with a mixture of ground meat, rice, and chopped onion, then roll up.
  4. Place the rolls in a baking dish, lining the bottom with the reserved cabbage leaves.
  5. Pour tomato juice over the cabbage rolls before baking, if desired.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for one hour until cooked through.
