Tips & Substitutions

For the best flavor, use ripe avocados that yield slightly to pressure. If you don't have garlic salt, regular salt or fresh minced garlic can be substituted. You can also add a dash of cumin or cilantro for an extra kick. To make it spicy, consider mixing in finely chopped jalapeños. If you're short on lemon juice, lime juice works just as well. Serve this guacamole alongside your favorite Mexican recipes.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this guacamole with tortilla chips for dipping, or use it as a topping on tacos or burritos. It pairs beautifully with a refreshing Margarita or as an accompaniment to dishes like Weight Watchers Spanish Rice. For a complete meal, consider serving it alongside Vegetarian Chili And Whole Wheat Corn Bread for a satisfying and flavorful spread.

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover guacamole in an airtight container in the refrigerator. To reduce browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole before sealing. It’s best consumed within 1-2 days for optimal freshness and flavor. If you need to rehydrate it, a little extra lemon juice can help restore its texture before serving again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make guacamole ahead of time?

Yes, guacamole can be made a few hours in advance. Just be sure to store it properly to minimize browning. If you prepare it the night before, adding a layer of plastic wrap directly on the surface can help keep it fresh. However, for the best flavor and texture, it's recommended to enjoy it fresh.

What can I use if I don't have onion?

If you don't have onion, you can omit it or substitute with green onions for a milder flavor. Some people also enjoy adding finely diced red bell pepper for a hint of sweetness and color. Adjust the amount to your taste, ensuring the guacamole remains balanced.

How can I make this guacamole vegan?

This guacamole recipe is already vegan-friendly as it contains no animal products. If you're looking to enhance its flavors, consider adding additional spices like chili powder or smoked paprika. You might also experiment with different herbs, such as cilantro, to customize it to your taste.
