Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup uncooked rice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 15-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Measure rice, boiling water, and salt into the top of a double boiler. Cook over rapidly boiling water until rice is tender, about 40 minutes.
  2. Stir in sweetened condensed milk, margarine, and raisins. Cook, stirring frequently, over boiling water until slightly thickened, about 20 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Serve warm or cold.
