Ingredients

  • 1 cup grated sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup soft butter
  • salt (optional)
  • red pepper
  • flour

Instructions

  1. Mix grated Cheddar cheese, softened butter, and salt (if used) together in a bowl.
  2. Add flour gradually, working in enough to form a stiff dough using your hands.
  3. Roll out the dough on a floured board to about 3/8-inch thickness.
  4. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into strips approximately 3/8 x 4 inches.
  5. Sprinkle the strips with red pepper.
  6. Place on a very lightly greased baking sheet and bake at 350°F until slightly brown, about 12 minutes.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool. Store in an airtight container.
