Ingredients

  • 2 cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoons Salt
  • 2 whole Eggs
  • 1/2 cups Milk
  • 2 slices Toasted Bread, Cut In Cubes
  • 1 Tablespoon Hot Water

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Beat eggs and milk with a fork in a separate bowl; add to dry ingredients, then mix in bread cubes. If needed to help form them into loaves, add the hot water. You can add more, but don't make them too mushy.
  2. Divide dough in half. Make oval-shaped loaves out of each half. You will have to flour your hands to pick up and shape loaves because they will be sticky. Flour a plate and put loaves on to rest. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil. Carefully drop loaves into boiling water and cook them for 10 minutes, then turn them over and cook for another 10 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon. Let sit for a few minutes on a rack. Slice.
  3. These can be made a day ahead and reheated in microwave. Excellent with or without gravy on them.
