Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup oleo or butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, mix together 2 cups flour, 1/2 cup oleo or butter, 1 1/2 cups sugar, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon until coarse crumbs form.
  2. Remove and set aside 3/4 cup of the crumbs for topping.
  3. To the remaining crumbs, add 1 egg, 1 cup milk, and 1 teaspoon baking soda.
  4. Beat vigorously until well mixed.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 13 x 9-inch pan.
  6. Sprinkle the reserved 3/4 cup crumbs evenly over the batter.
  7. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until done.
  8. Serve warm or cold; it stays fresh for 3 to 4 days.
