Ingredients

  • 1 unbaked deep pie shell
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Chill the unbaked deep pie shell in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter or margarine over low heat.
  4. Stir in the sugar until well combined.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  6. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs until blended.
  7. Gradually add the corn syrup, vanilla, and salt to the eggs, mixing well.
  8. Stir the egg mixture into the cooled butter and sugar mixture.
  9. Fold in the coarsely chopped pecans.
  10. Pour the filling into the chilled pie shell.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 50 minutes, or until the filling is set and golden.
  12. Allow the pie to cool before serving.
