- Chill the unbaked deep pie shell in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a saucepan, melt the butter or margarine over low heat.
- Stir in the sugar until well combined.

- In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs until blended.
- Gradually add the corn syrup, vanilla, and salt to the eggs, mixing well.
- Stir the egg mixture into the cooled butter and sugar mixture.
- Fold in the coarsely chopped pecans.
- Pour the filling into the chilled pie shell.
- Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 50 minutes, or until the filling is set and golden.
