Granny Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 package yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 eggs
  • 5 cups flour

Instructions

  1. Add shortening and sugar to boiling water; then let cool.
  2. Mix yeast, warm water, and eggs; stir well.
  3. Alternately add flour and the shortening mixture to form a dough.
  4. Let the dough set in the refrigerator overnight.
  5. Pour out on a floured surface; knead just enough to handle easily.
  6. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out rolls.
  7. Dip each roll in melted butter; then fold in half.
  8. Let the rolls rise for about 3 hours.
  9. Bake at 400°F for about 20 minutes.
