Ingredients
- 1/3 cup regular oats ⓘ
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon flour ⓘ
- 1 tablespoon margarine, melted ⓘ
- 4 tablespoons apple juice concentrate, thawed and divided ⓘ
- 3 to 4 Granny Smith apples (1 1/2 lb.), cored and cut into 1/2-inch slices ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon ⓘ
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg ⓘ
- 1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel (optional) ⓘ
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- Mix oats, brown sugar, flour, melted margarine, and 1 tablespoon of apple juice concentrate in a small bowl to make the topping.
- Set aside the topping mixture.
- Place the sliced apples in a large bowl.
- Add cinnamon, nutmeg, remaining apple juice concentrate, and toss well to coat.
- Put the apple mixture into an 8-inch pie plate or 2-quart casserole dish.
- Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
