- Put the pulp (middles) in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
- Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Put the hot pulp through a colander or food mill to remove seeds.
- Combine the strained pulp with the skins.
- Add sugar, flour, and salt to the mixture.
- Pour the filling into an unbaked pie crust.
- Dot the filling with margarine.
- Add the top crust with slits, lattice, or circular cutouts on top of the pie.
- Bake at 425°F for 35 to 45 minutes.
