Ingredients

  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. cake flour
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. lemon extract
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Instructions

  1. Have eggs and butter at room temperature.
  2. Cream butter, Crisco, and sugar thoroughly.
  3. Add one egg at a time, beating well after each addition until all five eggs are blended.
  4. Add lemon extract and vanilla, then mix well.
  5. Sift together cake flour and baking powder.
  6. Alternately add the sifted flour mixture and milk to the creamed mixture, mixing well after each addition.
  7. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
  8. Place the prepared pan in cold water.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  10. Bake the cake for about 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
