Ingredients

  • 2 cans French-style green beans
  • 4 medium tomatoes
  • 3 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 onion
  • dash of salt

Instructions

  1. Cook the green beans until tender and then drain.
  2. Fry the bacon until crispy and then drain it on paper towels.
  3. Chop the onion and sauté it in the bacon fat until translucent.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes, sugar, salt, and pepper to the sautéed onions.
  5. Cover and simmer the mixture until the tomatoes are soft, about 20 minutes.
  6. Add the cooked green beans and crumbled bacon to the tomato mixture and stir well.
  7. Serve hot as a flavorful side dish.
