Ingredients

  • 2 pie crusts for 9-inch pie
  • 6 medium apples, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons melted margarine
  • 1/3 cup Karo syrup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3 tablespoons Karo syrup

Instructions

  1. Prepare pastry for two-crust 9-inch pie.
  2. Fill the bottom crust with 6 sliced medium apples.
  3. Combine cornstarch, cinnamon, salt, sugar, melted margarine, and 1/3 cup Karo syrup to make the filling.
  4. Pour the filling over the apples in the pie crust.
  5. Cover with the top crust and bake in a 425°F oven for 45 minutes or until the crust is browned and apples are tender.
  6. Remove from oven and prepare the topping by mixing brown sugar, flour, 2 tablespoons Karo syrup, soft margarine, and nuts.
  7. Spread the topping over the baked pie crust.
  8. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the topping is bubbly.
