A rich, crunchy hazelnut brittle with caramelized sugar and toasted hazelnuts, perfect for sharing or gifting to those with a sweet tooth.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 5 1/2 cups hazelnuts

Instructions

  1. Oil an 11 x 17 inch pan and set aside.
  2. Stir sugar, apple cider vinegar, and 1 cup water in a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
  3. Cook without stirring until the mixture turns dark amber, about 18 to 25 minutes.
  4. Stir in the hazelnuts.
  5. Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and let it set until firm but still soft enough to cut.
  6. Unmold onto a cutting board.
  7. Working quickly, use an oiled knife to cut into 6 rectangles.
  8. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
