Ingredients

  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough
  • 2 Tbsp. melted margarine
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Brush the frozen loaf with 1 tablespoon of margarine.
  2. Cover the loaf and let it thaw at room temperature for 2 to 3 hours or in the refrigerator for 6 to 10 hours.
  3. Sprinkle the loaf with 1/3 cup of Parmesan cheese.
  4. Knead until well blended.
  5. Cut the dough into thirds.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, roll each third into a 25-inch rope.
  7. Braid the ropes together.
  8. Invert a 10-ounce custard cup on a greased baking sheet and grease the cup.
  9. Shape the braid into a wreath around the cup.
  10. Pinch the ends together to seal.
  11. Brush with the remaining margarine.
  12. Sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan cheese and basil.
  13. Let the bread rise for 35 to 45 minutes until doubled in size.
  14. Bake in a preheated 375°F oven for 20 to 25 minutes until golden and done.
  15. Remove from the oven, transfer to a rack, and cool.
