Herbed Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. margarine
  • 2 c. milk, scalded
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 7 to 7 1/2 c. flour, divided
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 Tbsp. plus 2 tsp. dried dill
  • 1 egg, beaten slightly
  • 2 Tbsp. oleo

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  2. Melt 1/2 cup oleo.
  3. Add sugar, salt, milk, 6 1/2 cups flour and yeast.
  4. Stir until mixture forms ball.
  5. Turn out on a well floured surface and knead, adding more flour if needed.
  6. Place in greased bowl.
  7. Let rise until double bulk.
  8. Roll out.
  9. Melt 2 tablespoons oleo and brush top.
  10. Sprinkle with dill.
  11. Roll up jelly roll, cut in 1 inch pieces.
  12. Put in muffin tins.
  13. Let raise 15 minutes.
  14. Brush rolls with beaten egg. Bake 20 minutes at 400°.
