Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 3/4 cups cake flour
  • 2 teaspoons double-acting baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar; add egg.
  2. Beat well.
  3. Add dry ingredients sifted together alternately with milk.
  4. Work quickly, mixing only enough to blend.
  5. Turn into greased muffin tin.
  6. Bake 20 minutes at 450°F.
