Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. unsifted flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 1 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°.
  2. Grease baking sheets.
  3. Combine flour, salt and baking soda.
  4. Beat together shortening, sugars and vanilla in large bowl until creamy.
  5. Add eggs; beat until light and fluffy.
  6. Gradually beat in flour mixture and rolled oats.
  7. Stir in chocolate chips.
  8. Drop on baking sheets; bake 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on sheets for short time; cool on wire rack for 2 minutes.
