Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups instant grits
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 sticks oleo
  • 1 pound sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Tabasco sauce
  • 3 eggs

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, bring 6 cups of water to a full boil.
  2. Stir in 1 1/2 cups of instant grits and 2 teaspoons of salt; cook for 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Remove from stove and add 1 1/2 sticks of oleo, 1 pound of grated sharp Cheddar cheese, 1 teaspoon of Tabasco sauce, and 3 beaten eggs.
  4. Pour the mixture into a well-greased small pan.
  5. Bake for 1 hour or until golden brown.
  6. Cool before slicing or serving topped with creamed chicken or tuna.
