Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground mace
  • 1 1/2 cup unsifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 2 packages dry yeast

Instructions

  1. Stir the sugar, salt, ground mace, grated lemon peel, and dry yeast together in a mixing bowl.
  2. Heat the water and margarine to lukewarm.
  3. Pour the lukewarm mixture into the dry ingredients and beat for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs and 1/2 cup of unsifted flour; beat for 2 more minutes.
  5. Add about 3 more cups of unsifted flour, stirring in to make a fairly stiff, moist dough.
  6. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes, then cover with plastic wrap and let rest in a pan for 30 minutes.
