Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup soft shortening
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 cups blueberries

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, shortening, egg, and milk together.
  2. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
  4. Fold in blueberries gently.
  5. Spread the batter in a greased and floured pan.
  6. Prepare the topping by blending together 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup flour, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 cup soft butter until crumbly.
  7. Spread the topping evenly over the batter.
  8. Bake in a 350°F oven for 45 to 50 minutes until golden and cooked through.
