Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pkg. cake yeast
  • 1 c. mashed potatoes
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 c. potato water
  • 1 c. warm milk
  • 2/3 c. Wesson oil
  • 8 c. flour

Instructions

  1. Dissolve the yeast with part of the potato water.
  2. Add sugar, salt, and egg yolks; mix well.
  3. Add milk and Wesson oil, mixing after each addition.
  4. Add the flour and mix thoroughly to form a dough.
  5. Place the dough in the refrigerator for 4 hours or overnight.
  6. When ready, take the dough out and roll into small ball-sized portions.
  7. Let the dough balls rise for 20 minutes.
  8. Brush the tops with oleo (margarine or butter).
  9. Add your favorite filling to each portion.
  10. Bake at 375°F until they are golden brown.
  11. Remove from oven and brush with oleo before serving.
