Indian Chow-Chow is a sweet and tangy preserve blending tomatoes, onions, and green apples with warm spices, perfect for adding a flavorful touch to meals or spreads.

Ingredients

  • 12 large ripe tomatoes
  • 9 large onions
  • 6 green apples
  • 3 cups brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mixed pickling spices

Instructions

  1. Put the mixed pickling spices in 2 bags.
  2. Mix remaining ingredients with 1 tablespoon salt and boil together until the apples are tender.
  3. Remove spice bags and transfer the mixture into jars.
  4. Seal the jars and store.
