- Scrub the squash and cut in half lengthwise.
- Remove seeds and stringy portions from the squash.
- Pour ginger ale into a large skillet.
- Add the squash halves, cut side down, to the skillet.
- Cover the pan and steam over medium heat for 10 minutes.
- Arrange the squash, cut side up, in a shallow baking dish.
- Sprinkle each squash half with salt and pepper.
- Add a teaspoon of butter to each half and sprinkle with herbs.
- Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes, occasionally brushing with butter inside and outside of the squash.
