  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 3/4 c. sugar

  2. Whip evaporated milk and add Jell-O mixture, beating all the time, until thoroughly mixed and like whipped cream.
  3. Put a small amount of Jell-O mixture on the bottom of a large angel food cake pan.
  4. Place one layer of cake on top, then add another layer of the Jell-O mixture, then another layer of cake, then another layer of the Jell-O mixture, and finally the top layer of cake.
  5. Let set in the refrigerator until firm, preferably overnight.
  6. Unmold on a large plate and decorate the top and sides with whipped cream.

Tips & Substitutions

For a lighter texture, ensure the Jell-O mixture is cooled but not fully set before incorporating the whipped evaporated milk. If you prefer a different flavor, feel free to substitute raspberry Jell-O with strawberry or lemon. For a touch of decadence, consider adding a layer of fresh fruit, like strawberries or blueberries, between cake layers.

Serving Suggestions

Serve this Jello Angel Cake chilled, garnished with additional whipped cream and fresh berries for a delightful presentation. It pairs beautifully with a cup of tea or coffee, making it a perfect dessert for afternoon gatherings. For a more substantial meal, consider serving it alongside a light salad, like Peaches And Cream Squares Salad.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The cake is best enjoyed cold, so there's no need to reheat it. If the whipped cream begins to weep, simply re-whip it before serving to restore its lightness and texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use a different type of cake instead of angel food cake?

Yes, you can substitute a sponge cake or a chiffon cake for a richer flavor. However, keep in mind that the lightness of angel food cake complements the airy texture of the Jell-O perfectly.

How long does this cake need to set in the refrigerator?

Ideally, allow the cake to set in the refrigerator overnight. This ensures that the layers meld together nicely and the Jell-O firms up for easy slicing. If you're short on time, a minimum of 4 hours can work, but overnight is recommended for best results.

Is it possible to make this dessert in advance?

Absolutely! This Jello Angel Cake is perfect for making ahead of time. Just prepare it a day or two before your event, and store it in the refrigerator. This not only saves time but also enhances the flavors as they have time to develop.
