Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 3 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 3 tsp. cinnamon
  • 3 or 4 eggs (depending on size)
  • 1 lb. raisins
  • 1 lb. pecans (can use less if desired)

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.
  2. Add eggs and mix well.
  3. Sift flour to make 3 1/2 cups; then sift again with soda and cinnamon, in a separate bowl.
  4. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture to make a stiff dough.
  5. Mix in nuts and raisins. Drop by spoonful on ungreased cookie sheet.
  6. Bake at 375° for 12 to 15 minutes.
  7. Watch carefully.
