Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 pint half and half (cream)
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss or Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup chopped ham
  • 1 (9-inch) pie shell
  • Broccoli, onions, or green pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. In a bowl, beat eggs well and season with salt and pepper.
  3. Line a 9-inch pie dish with the prepared pie shell.
  4. Sprinkle cheese, ham, and optional vegetables like broccoli, onions, or green pepper on the bottom of the pie shell.
  5. Pour the egg mixture over the filling.
  6. Bake at 425°F for 15 minutes.
  7. Reduce oven temperature to 325°F and bake for an additional 40 minutes.
  8. Check for doneness by inserting a knife in the center; it should come out clean.
