Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb oleo
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6 quarts popped corn

Instructions

  1. Cook the oleo, corn syrup, brown sugar, and salt in a saucepan, stirring until boiling.
  2. Boil without stirring for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
  3. Add baking soda and vanilla; stir a couple of times, being careful not to overstir.
  4. Pour the caramel mixture over the popped corn, ensuring even coating.
  5. Bake in an oven at 250°F for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
