Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 yolk

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter and let it cool.
  2. Put the dry yeast and sugar in a large bowl.
  3. Add the lukewarm milk and mix.
  4. Let stand for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  5. Add the beaten whole egg and yolk, salt, melted butter, and sifted flour in the given order.
  6. Mix well until combined.
  7. If the dough is tacky, add a little more flour.
  8. Knead the dough for 5 minutes on a floured board.
  9. Cut the dough into four pieces and form four balls.
  10. Knead each ball for 3 minutes and set in a lightly floured bowl.
  11. Cover with a heavy towel and let rise.
