Ingredients

  • pepper
  • lamb shanks
  • brown sugar

  • tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Put the lamb shanks in a covered ovenproof casserole.
  2. Mix all other ingredients—brown sugar, rosemary, white wine, tomato sauce, pepper—and cut large onion into slices, placing them on top of the shanks.
  3. Pour the mixture over the shanks and cover the dish.
  4. Optional: add potatoes and carrots to the dish.
  5. Bake in a 300°F (150°C) oven for 3 hours.
