Ingredients

  • 1 round angel food cake
  • 1 lb. butter, softened
  • 1 cup confectioners sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 squares chocolate
  • 1 1/2 pinches salt
  • 6 tablespoons extra strength coffee

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter until smooth.
  2. Melt the chocolate.
  3. Add salt and confectioners sugar to the butter; mix well.
  4. Separate the egg yolks and whites.
  5. Add the egg yolks and melted chocolate to the butter mixture.
  6. Add the coffee and mix well.
  7. Beat the egg whites until firm and fold into the chocolate mixture.
  8. Cut the angel food cake into 5 horizontal layers.
  9. Spread each layer with the chocolate mixture, then reassemble the cake.
  10. Refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours before serving.
